Hotel opened in June of this year and in my opinion they should have completed the final touches prior to the opening. On our arrival a nice cellular shade was on our door but when it was pulled down it didn't cover all of the door. This would not of been as important if we were not pool facing and on the ground floor. On our second day it was replaced, unprompted, for a curtain that couldn't be moved. This minimized the view from the couch and restricted the amount of light. The room has a small window other than the door and dim bulbs on the lamps. The back door should have instructions on how to operate the lock. I thought I had locked the door by turning the knob but you had to lift up the handle then turn the latch knob. If you didn't ensure the knob was turned to the left prior to lifting the handle the door would not lock. Other than those MINOR things the hotel and grounds are beautiful with amazing views. Staff were nice with only two people that were less than I would have expected at a hotel of this caliber. I did deduct one star because of the door issues and also because the hotel "store" didn't have some of the things I would hope like i do recontact solution. You are 25 minutes from the closest store (Dollar General) so be sure to bring EVERYTHING you might need with you. The pool with small water park like feature was a great hit with the kids. Very relaxing!!!
Guest service was very good. Loved Marry helping with dining choices. Room was a major disappointment. King sweet with balcony. View of wall - sound of commercial air conditioning unit when on balcony made it not worth having. Requested a move as soon I viewed the room - front desk said no. Only chose to pay up for suite after it was explained to me how great the view and room was - that was not exactly how it turned out. Access to lake is a bit limited. Again - staff is pretty great once you get past front desk.
I was recently there for a wedding - the ceremony was held at the Country Club, and it was beautiful. The reception was held at the resort itself, and was pretty good. The hotel is going to be beautiful once it's completed. However, the construction is not complete yet, so the bathrooms next to the ballroom were not in service, resulting in guests having to go to the restrooms in the lobby. There was another function going on in the area by the other restrooms, so we had to walk through and potentially disturb that event to use the bathroom. In addition, there were no paper towels in either the men's or women's room until at least halfway through the reception. All in all, the place is beautiful, the staff way excellent, and the food was good - but if you're planning on having an event there, you might want to wait until their construction is finished.
If you are coming here on vacation be sure to check the dress code. For non-members there is a strict no denim policy in place. I'm sitting on my vacation patio this morning watching groups go by in blue jeans. When I inquired to the club house I was informed that those are members. Apparently money talks loudest here. Good thing there are plenty of courses to choose from in the area.
We had dinner at Doc's and my chicken was rare. We were thankful the manager refunded us for the meal, however, for the price, it was a lite discouraging.
